MEETINGS--Elders in Court of Inquiry Question 1916

Question(1916) "Is it proper for the elders to sit at a court of inquiry and cite any supposed to be walking in a disorderly manner to appear before them and explain their conduct? Or should the Lord's advice given in Matthew 18:15-18 be followed?"

Answer:  "I agree with the suggestion of the question that it should be handled in harmony with the Lord's direction in the passage cited. The Lord's word does not authorize any court of the Elders, or anyone else, to become busybodies. This would be going back to the practices of the Dark Ages during the inquisition; and woud be showing the same spirit as did the inquisitors......We should have confidence in the Lord." "We sometimes see an honest, truth-hungry child of God gradually progressing from one denomination to another, as a child passes from class to class in a school....you may by and by find him outside all organizations, joined merely to the Lord and to his saints bound only by love and truth." freyd,

That is old light.  The light changes, it does not get brighter.

Here is an example:

You are in a dark room
You make out a dark object in the middle of the room
Your eyes adjust a bit, and some of the moon comes in and you see an outline of a chair
More light comes in, and you see it is a dark chair
More light comes in, and it is a dark leather chair
More light comes in, and you can see it is a Laz-E-Boy Recliner

More WT light comes in, and it is a tiger that jumps and kills you!
