I want to try and bring this topic back to life!
I've been reading and I just noticed something in Matt 23:35 that might help in placing the events of Matt 24 in the stream of time?
"that on you may come all the righteous blood being poured out on the earth from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar:"
Robert Young Literal Translation
Notice how Jesus is speaking in the present sense? "Whom you slew" but we know that all those murders happened in the past BEFORE he was talking?? Soooooo IF the "YOU" present can also mean the "you" of the past could it not also mean the "you" of the furture mentioned in Matt 24??
Now in addition to this I'd like to add that I am also thinking there could be a greater fufillment. Why?? Because it seems to me many of the events which happened to Israel were types for the furture. For example their entering the promise land = mankind entering the Paradise of God.
So who is the greater type for Jerusalem?? How about Babylon the Great!
Notice how many simularities there are, both are 'cities' both are immoral before God, God's people had to get out of both, But most of ALL Notice Matt 23:37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that has kept on MURDERING THE PROPHETS, and stoning those who have been sent to HER (female tense!) Rev 18:24 "In her has been found the blood of prophets, saints, and all who have been slaughtered on the earth"
WELL!!! This has got to mean something!
