Hi folks
I have not posted for a while but just in from today meeting which had me thinking all morning. This topic was one of the reason while I pass on my two studies to my partner but I still enjoy going on them.I didn't not feel comfortable teaching on some topics as we went along .So this article cause me to think in para 11 and the case with Timothy. How do members of the GB come to a "new light" understanding  at least one member thought different and express this to the rest .2 Tim 4 2-4 was listed in para and in essence accept the need for unity but at some point some one has to speak out if something is not aright. I look forward to the others 2 articles as the do give  me some encouragement . However para 6-7 next we will be taken in with interest.
Have anyone out there has any thoughts on these articles

Your brother

Hello Candy, welcome back.

Is this a new article in the Watchtower?  Is it talking about how the GB come up with new light?

If so then from what I have read it takes a 2/3rds vote from the members of the GB to make "new light"!  Many things could have been changed years ago, like alternative military service, but they needed a 2/3 vote to change it.  Ray Franz stated that at one time, some years back, they thought they had the votes, but after a break one of the GB talked with another GB who was going to vote to change things, and got him to back down, so it stayed the same.

It's really not all of them being "united" in thought, or that God gives them "all" the same messages about things, it's simply like politics.  They "lobby" each other to vote the way they want to vote, and whoever does the best job of "lobbying" gets things done their way.

Anyway I would be interested in what this article has to say if it's talking about how they come up with "new light".

I wonder if this is and article about "new light" if some "new light" is coming down from HQ? Undecided
Take care.

Hi Andy

These articles are not about new light but how to how to use the bible in our ministry and our teaching methods such as persuasion, conduct etc. that is all fine and I am aware of the thoughts you mentiond from franz book.
Howvever a point was that timothy did not permit his personal view to shape his teaching . he simlpy toe the line.how then are changes made if a gb member does not put forward a differnt angle on a topic ,discuss it before it voted on.
Surely if told my study simply in disagreed on 1914 am  I treaching that one or is that not allowed.
On this para a lot of comments were made on this that really got me thinking.
